Howard
My interest in photography started early, I was five when I received my first camera as a Christmas present. A Kodak Instamatic started my love affair with photography, I snapped away constantly - my favourite subject being my faithful hound "Patch".
I progressed to a real camera - a Pentax MV SLR but soon outgrew it's capabilities. When I was twelve I was definately ready for an upgrade and saw my dream camera, an Olympus OM4 SLR - or as I described it in my diary - "the bestest camera in the world!!" A
fter much pestering, I got it for Christmas - a proper camera. All my pocket money was spent on films and processing.
In my late teens I got a Nikon F3HP and set up a portrait studio in my parents dining room - they loved that!!! I then went on to college to study photography and at this point started working with a Mamiya medium format camera.
After college I started out doing family portraits and then progressed to weddings. In the days of film the equipment was cumbersome and heavy but I had a stroke of luck - my girlfriend offered to help out at weddings. Good assistants are hard to find so I married her!!!
I am a fully qualified member of the Master Photographers Association (MPA), the UK's leading organisation for full time professional photographers.
I have now been a photographer for over twenty years and I love my job, no two days are the same and I get to meet such lovely people. To document the important occasions in our clients lives is a joy and a priviledge. Knowing that the images we produce for them are treasured is truly humbling.

I always loved taking photographs when I was growing up and in my early 20's but only on a purely "for fun" basis. My life, and indeed career, changed completely when I met Howard. It soon became apparent that a large chunk of the weekend was taken up by his work so I decided that in order to spend more time with my lovely new boyfriend I would go along to the weddings as an assistant. It turned out to be a win-win situation, Howard got someone to hold the reflectors and carry the heavy case (in the old days of film!) and I got to go to lots of weddings - fabulous! (it's a girl thing!!).
After a while I decided that I wanted to take photographs too. Howard showed me the ropes and I was hooked. I still work as an assistant when needed but I also "second shoot" on assignments. Working as a team means that we can work quickly and smoothly with two perspectives to create a variety of work.
Until 2010 we lived in Sheffield, South Yorkshire where we had a studio and concentrated on weddings and studio portraiture. We moved to Dorset to be near family and enjoy life at the coast. We now live in Christchurch with our spoiled and much loved cat "Tibby". In June 2011 we opened our studio in Tuckton and now specialise in weddings and family portraits on location.
